Lead Times in Odoo 17
Managing lead times accurately allows businesses to meet or exceed customer expectations by fulfilling orders promptly. Successful businesses place a high priority on customer satisfaction. When customers know precisely when the goods will arrive and receive them on the promised dates, their trust and reliability in the company increases. All of these activities can be managed via Odoo and the company can be taken to new heights efficiently using the platform.
When it comes to Odoo 17, lead time is the period that elapses between the beginning and the end of a process. During the beginning, middle, and end of the production process, manufacturing, supply chain management, and project management businesses evaluate the lead times involved. The latest version of Odoo 17 offers a variety of lead times, including those for customers, vendors, and manufacturers, as well as those for security and other issues.

Customer Lead time Odoo
A customer’s lead time is the time required for the product to be delivered to them. We can schedule the delivery date and time more precisely when we have the customer lead time Odoo. Depending on the product, the customer lead time can be provided. Customers can add lead time to their orders in the product inventory tab.
Sales Lead Time for Security
Adding more days to the delivery date is possible because of the security lead time for sales in Odoo. As a result, we can deliver the product before the estimated delivery date, preventing delays in the delivery of the product. When we use the delivery lead time feature, our customers will receive their orders on time. We will apply this lead time to all products in the general security category. For that go to Inventoryà Configuration à Settings. In Advanced Scheduling, there is an option for Security Lead Time for Sales. When enabled, a field will be displayed to enter the number of days to move forward the delivery date.
Lead time for delivery
Also known as vendor lead time or purchase lead time, it is the period between the time we place an order with the vendor and when the items arrive. Product purchase tabs include information about vendor lead times.
Security Lead Time for Purchase
The Security Lead Time for Purchase option in Odoo 17 allows for an extra day to be added to the arrival date to deal with any unexpected vendor delays. Due to this delay, the receipt deadline will be shifted forward by that many days. Across all of the products, this will be the general security lead time. For that, navigate to Inventory –> Configuration –> Settings. As an option under Advanced Scheduling, we can choose the Security Lead Time for Purchase. By enabling that, a field will appear where we can enter the number of days by which we can move the deadline forward.
Manufacturing Lead Time
In manufacturing, lead time refers to the number of days it takes to produce a product from raw materials. Under the Miscellaneous tab of the Bills of Materials of a product, manufacturing lead time can be found.
Security Lead Time for Manufacturing
By using a security lead time in manufacturing, orders are scheduled earlier by the specified number of days to avoid any possible delays. All production will be subject to this general security lead time. In Manufacturing –> Configuration –> Settings, we have the option ‘Security Lead Time’. When enabled, the ‘Security Lead Time’ field appears, adding the number of days to schedule manufacturing orders as early as possible to avoid delays.
