Manage Rental Inquiries in Odoo CRM

Let’s examine the Odoo 16 Rental module to learn more about its functions. The most effective platform for overseeing all rental operations is the Odoo Rental module. As seen in the screenshot below, the module’s dashboard contains all the information pertaining to rental orders.

The products that are under rental are displayed in the window above. Let’s use the product Printer as an example from this point on.

Once you have installed the module Rental, you will be able to view the Can be Rented option while configuring your products.

To make the product available for rental, you can activate the Can be Rented option. By providing all the information you would normally provide when creating any product in Odoo, you can configure your rental product. Additionally, managing rental products is required, and the product category must be set to All/Rental.

You will be able to handle rental inquiries via the website once you have created products and entered all the necessary information. We can therefore effortlessly handle rental inquiries from customers who use the website to inquire about any product. Let’s open the Website module to see this. You can view the inquiry page here, and an inquirer can use this page to make any inquiries.

You can also enter the subject and the question in the corresponding fields, Subject and Question. The opportunity will be created in Odoo under the name of the inquiry’s subject. Therefore, we can write “Price for renting Printer” in the Subject field and allow customers to fill out the Question field with any questions they may have about the rental product.

After receiving all the information, the requester can click the “Submit” button to send the inquiry.

This inquiry will now generate a new opportunity under the CRM module. Let us open the CRM module to verify this. You can see the opportunity in the Pipeline window as it is indicated in the screenshot below.

You have the option to view the details of the information.

The window will manage other pertinent information about this specific opportunity in addition to automatically calculating the probability. The NEW RENTAL button, which can be clicked to create a new rental, is visible when you look at the upper left corner of the window. As soon as you click this button, a new window will appear, as seen in the screenshot below, with the customer, invoice address, delivery address, and other details needed to create a quotation automatically allocated.

You can designate which product to set aside for rental under the Order Lines tab. The questioner asks about the printer in this instance, and we can select it by using the Add a Product menu. The product details will now appear in the system as a pop-up window, as shown below. 

The date will appear in the pop-up, and you can modify it depending on the duration of the rental. You can also include the quantity and the duration. Furthermore, a description of the price can be found in the Unit Price field. Additional pricing details will also be shown. The rental price rule that provides the lowest cost for the requested duration is used to determine the price. Once all the information has been confirmed, you can click the ADD button that appears in the pop-up window. The Order Lines tab will now have the details added.

By selecting the CONFIRM button, we can verify the order after reviewing the data. The sale order for this specific product has now been created.

Using the PICKUP button, which you can select from the window’s upper left corner, is advised.

The product is now prepared for delivery to the client, allowing you to verify the pickup.

Let’s return to the Rental module now, where the rental order is displayed in the screenshot below.

With the CREATE INVOICE button, creating an invoice is now simple.

Once the invoice has been verified, click the REGISTER PAYMENT button to register your payment.

You can review the details, including Journal, Payment Method, Amount, Payment Date, etc., in the Register Payment pop-up window.

The rental order will be posted and in the IN PAYMENT state as soon as you click the CREATE PAYMENT button and the payment will be transferred to the bank following reconciliation.

You can return the product at the end of the rental period. The Odoo 16 CRM module functions and lets you handle rental inquiries in this manner.
